Terms of Use
By using this open site, you already have recognized the dangers besetting students, especially working class students, students of color, LGBT students, women, and others who face discriminatory practices. Users of this site are asked to recognize the further dangers posed by proprietary platforms that harvest information from student performance to create products, or to furnish data to data aggregators. It's vital that users of open resources avoid combining them with such proprietary tools.
Although there's little to prevent an instructor, department, or university from subjecting the students' work to these third parties, the consequences of doing so reveal the ethical imperatives for protecting students' privacy in education technologies. We ask that you extend your keen ethical sense by refusing the risks posed by platforms and other software that create and commodify digital identities for the real people who inhabit our classrooms.
